Agelore’s Fantasy is all about protecting the realm of wizards from various monstrous threats. Play as a wizard who just has his staff as the only main weapon, a shield to defend from the attacks and countless waves of enemies emerging from all the surroundings that must be eliminated before the time runs out.
I was given the chance to design the entire user interface for this game as one of my earliest projects with Big Immersive. The game in itself gives a magical vibe, the art style is low poly, and the overall environment colors are vibrant. So the theme I decided after a lot of research was simple, rough and flat colors for the UI visual style. Then I mixed that up with free hand sketch style motifs and borders to blend in well with the game’s fantasy base.
Following are the static mockup images of the various UI elements from the game that I conceptualize and then did the art work for them as well:

Aside from the UI art for Agelore’s Fantasy, I was also involved in modeling few of the 3D assets as well. Did some texturing as well and then I was solely responisible to render out those assets required for both to be used for marketing purposes and inside the UI flow.
Moodboard:
Working on the UI of Agelore’s Fantasy was challenging. I gathered many references through the internet but it was difficult at the start to figure out the art style to decide for its UI. Again the game in itself is not a big scale one and so making it UI heavy was not the option. Being fantasy genre and then having all the 3D art style in low poly was something new for me. I must admit that the UI of Ori and The Blind Forest became my main source of inspiration here. Although the final UI I did went in a different direction with very raw hand sketch style outlines and motifs with minimal colors.
Typography:
Font: Eskargot
At first I wasn’t sure about this font to be used overall in the game but after thorough work around with other options, Eskargot was the only one which was clicking for me to suit the overall theme of the game. I somehow gave a bit magical, fantasy and other realm type feel with foldings in letters having edges to go somewhat with the low poly art syle overall. It came out pretty good as this font was the main look for the game logo as well.
Color Palette:
It was obvious at this stage that white was to be used entirely in all the hand drawn lines and motifs but one primary color where I got stuck in decision was among the left two shown in the image below. But after having experimented with both individually and together, the feedback I got from around was in favor to use a combination of both as it added a bit contrast in the entire UI.
